Ancient energetic exercises such as qigong and yoga were developed as techniques to cultivate the body as a strong, healthy and supple container for varying states of awareness and consciousness. As citizens of a modern age we are now beginning to understand the importance of ancient Eastern wisdom to synchronize mind, body and spirit. As we begin to practice, we begin to step into our authenticity and confidence. My feeling is that body-mindfulness exercises are essential in our journey to our fullness as humans. Being embodied gives us a more somatic awareness of our challenges and our gifts for wisdom, compassion and kindness.
